After 8 years we have closed DVS Records (since 1 january 2008), the record label know for quality releases within the progressive metal scene. From the start DVS Records was a hobby and we built up the label besides having daytime jobs. The last few years the music business has changed a lot, for small labels it started to become more and more difficult to continue. Besides this the music business also is a very though business, the last few years we lost the fun in running the label.
We have thought a lot about our decission, but for several reasons we have finally decided to close the label. First of all time started to become a major problem, because daytime jobs took most of the time. Secondly birth of a little girl (Kim) gave us a lot of other pleasure that we really enjoy. Financially keeping the label alive also started to become a serious problem, and allthough it was a hobby, loosing too much money is not really enjoyable. And finally we also have lost a little interest in the business, the music scene is not the most fair business. All these reasons together made us decide to close down DVS Records at 1 january 2008.
Of course we would like to thank many people, but there are 2 people that we would especially like to thank for all their support.
First of all Erik van Geel, one of the founders of DVS Records. After 2 years Erik moved to the USA and decided to step out of the label. Luckily Erik stil is a good friend and we hope to see him, his wife and kids someday in The Netherlands, when he goes back to his roots!
Secondly we would like to thank Mattias Noren, our very good friend from Sweden. Mattias helped us out with a lot of work, Mattias is one of the best graphic artists we know and we are glad he has done a lot of artwork for us. And also Mattias still is a good friend, every year during the annual ProgPower festival Mattias comes over to Baarlo, The Netherlands.
Of course we also would like to thank all the bands we have worked with, unfortunately some bands are not active at the moment, but some bands made a very good start with DVS Records and moved to a bigger label after 1 or 2 releases. We are proud that we gave these bands the first few steps within the music scene. In alphabatical order we would like to thank the following bands: Alias Eye (germany), Ashes To Ashes (norway), Chaoswave (italy), Chrome Shift (denmark), Dynamic Lights (italy), Heaven's Cry (canada), Into Eternity, Silent Edge (the netherlands), Sonic Debris (norway), The Aurora Project (the netherlands), Voyager (australia), Wolverine (sweden). Thank you all and we wish you all good luck in the future.
